Discover Infinite Possibilites!

Students

The Ysleta ISD is deeply committed to providing equitable access to education for every student. We firmly believe that technology plays a crucial role in modern learning. To that end, we've implemented Discover Infinite Possibilities!, ensuring each student from PK through 12th grade be provided the option for a 1:1 device. This means students have the freedom to explore, create, and learn anytime, anywhere. The 24/7 availability of these Chromebooks opens doors to a world of educational resources and digital tools, fostering a continuous learning environment that extends beyond the traditional school day. To promote responsible use and maximize the lifespan of these devices, all students are asked to watch an informative care video before receiving their Chromebook. This video, found here , outlines essential tips on maintaining and safeguarding their Chromebook as well as the costs associated with replacement or repair.

Teachers

We equip all teachers with laptops to support their instructional practices and professional development. These laptops empower educators to seamlessly integrate technology into their classrooms, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. Furthermore, we encourage teachers to continuously refine their digital skills by accessing a wealth of instructional videos and tutorials available on our dedicated website. This resource serves as a valuable hub for ongoing learning and professional growth, ensuring our teachers remain at the forefront of educational innovation.

New Teachers

Are you a new teacher needing to get a laptop? All teachers need to complete the laptop course before receiving a laptop. You can find the course here. Once you review all of the information, you'll be prompted to take a quiz on Google Forms. Upon receiving your certificate of completion, please contact Erick Buenrostro.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program Guidelines

The District reserves the right to approve a personal device for student use under its BYOD Program. All approved personal devices must be used appropriately. Misuse of a personal device or the district’s network under the BYOD program is subject to immediate termination of BYOD privileges and may be subject to discipline under the YISD Student Code of Conduct. Additionally, the following BYOD guidelines and rules apply:

  • Students must request and receive written approval prior to use of a personal device under the district’s BYOD program.

  • Upon written approval, students may only use their personal device for instructional purposes to the extent authorized by a teacher or administrator.

  • Student use is restricted to instructional purposes.

  • The approved personal device must be connected to the school’s or District’s network at all times while on school property.

  • Student use shall be subject to the direction and observation of a school official or teacher.

  • Students may use their personal device for instructional purposes to the extent authorized by a teacher or school official.  YISD will provide students with access to a filtered, Wi‐Fi network following federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) guidelines. Students are expected to use the YISD network while on district property (absolutely no personal Internet providers/service).

  • Any use, for instructional purposes or otherwise, must be in accordance with the YISD Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), the Student Code of Conduct, this Student/Parent Handbook, to include these BYOD Guidelines and Rules; and FNC Policy and Regulations.

  • Students must power off and put away a personal device if directed to do so by a teacher or administrator. Students may not use a personal device to take or transmit photos or video during the school day or on school grounds, unless authorized by a teacher or administrator.

Loss of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Privilege

A student's authorization to use a personal device is a privilege, not a right, and is granted subject to continuous adherence to all district policies, guidelines, and the Student Code of Conduct. The school administration reserves the right to revoke this privilege immediately, requiring the student to transition to a district-issued device for school use.

Reasons for immediate revocation of the BYOD privilege include, but are not limited to:

  1. Misuse of Technology: Any violation of the district’s Acceptable Use Policy or the BYOD guidelines, including unauthorized activities, accessing inappropriate content, compromising network security, or disruptive behavior. This may also subject the student to discipline under the YISD Student Code of Conduct.

  2. Schedule Change: A change in a student's class schedule that results in the student being unenrolled in courses (e.g., CTE, specialized college-level courses) that require the use of a personal device for specialized software, curriculum, or testing purposes.

  3. Other: Any situation deemed by the school administration to be detrimental to the educational environment, safety of students, or the integrity of the school's technology infrastructure, or failure to comply with campus-specific rules on the use of personal devices.
